Carabobo College of Engineers calls for rally over power outages

CARACAS, VENEZUELA (By Piero Stewart, Editores Latin Petroleum, 16.Oct.2026, Words: 154) — The Carabobo College of Engineers has called for a rally this Friday at 9:00 a.m. in front of the Corpoelec building on Cedeño Avenue in Valencia to demand action regarding the blackouts that have prolonged power outages in the state, El Carabobeño reported on 16 Oct. 2026.

Franklin López, president of the organizing body, announced the demonstration will be supported by the institutional professional association, labor unions, and representatives of civil society.

The main demand will be that 50% of the energy generated in Carabobo remain within the state to meet its internal demand.

López stated the state requires between 830-850 megawatts and suggested that maintaining approximately 700 MW of local generation would reduce the duration of the outages.
