Delcy defends Venezuela’s position on the Essequibo territory, says Guyana acting unfairly

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (By Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 11.May.2026, Words: 325) — Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez participated in the oral hearing before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands, to defend Venezuela’s historical rights over the Essequibo territory.

The interim president stated she appeared before the ICJ to express the voice of the Venezuelan people, “fervent promoters and defenders of international law.”
