EAI brief: MEEI heads visit TRINGEN complex at Point Lisas

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (By Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 7.Nov.2025, Words: 245) — Trinidad and Tobago’s co-heads at Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEE) Roodal Moonilal and Ernesto Kesar and  and MEEI director of the downstream petroleum management division Ayasha Nickie met with Yara Trinidad Ltd. and Trinidad Nitrogen Company Limited (TRINGEN) executives.

Importantly, the country officials and company executives toured the Yara TRINGEN complex located at Savonetta, Point Lisas, Trinidad and Tobago, the MEEI announced on 7 Nov. 2025 in an official statement.

Other highlights of the tour that occurred on 5 Nov. 2025 include:

— the meeting and tour focused on matters of energy security, TRINGEN’s role in the national economy, collaboration between public and private partnerships and agricultural initiatives within the country,

— the tour concluded with a visit to TRINGEN’s deep water port terminal where the ‘Yara Freya’ vessel was anchored for the loading of ammonia, bound for the international market,

— the Yara Caribbean and National Enterprises Limited (NEL) is a joint venture (JV) officially known as TRINGEN. It’s a partnership where NEL owns 51% and Yara Caribbean, a subsidiary of Yara International ASA, owns 49%,

— Yara Trinidad manages and operates the site on behalf of TRINGEN. This JV operates 2 ammonia production plants namely TRINGEN I and TRINGEN II, a power generation plant, port and harbor facilities and several other utility areas at Savonetta, Point Lisas, Trinidad and Tobago.
