MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 5.Jul.2025, Words: 347) — Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo inaugurated the Villa de Reyes combined cycle power plant San Luis Potosí. The plant, which is owned by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), benefits 2.4 million people in the state.
The plant required an investment of $350mn and will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 53% and water use by 40%, according to energy secretary Luz Elena González Escobar.
