Pemex reports on situation regarding oil spill impacting beaches in Paraíso, Tabasco

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 3.Jun.2025, Words: 328) — State-owned Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) said that 28 days after learning of an oil leak in the pipeline from the Akal I facility that the critical point of the leak was located 2 nautical miles north of the Dos Bocas Maritime Terminal.

On 9 May 2025, Pemex completed the containment and cleanup operations along the beaches affected by the oil spill. These beaches — of Paraíso, Tabasco — have been reopened to visitors, who mainly visit on weekends, as is customary during the spring and summer seasons, Pemex announced on 3 Jun. 2025 in an official statement.
