Ecuador Advances electrical infrastructure Projects in El Pangui

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 27.Feb.2025) — Ecuador’s national government is backing several projects to improve electrical infrastructure in the province of Zamora Chinchipe, which will benefit 5,340+ inhabitants of El Pangui.

Work on a 3-phase medium voltage line, developed in the sectors 20 de Agosto and Soldado Monge, is 70% finished. The project will require an investment of $204,490 and benefit about 2,000 inhabitants, improving the quality and stability of the electrical service, Ecuador’s Ministry of Mines and Energy said 27 Feb. 2025 in an official statement.

Other electrification projects in the San Roque and Abdón Calderón neighborhoods, rural areas of El Pangui, under the watch of Empresa Eléctrica Régional del Sur (EERSSA), will require an investment of $45,900, to improve access to energy in communities that still lack service.

The projects are part of the strategic planning and innovation programs developed by EERSA, which focus on carrying out actions that improve the quality of electricity service and the strengthening of the distribution area in all its operating areas, the ministry said.
