At least 6 bidders interested in AHMSA

MONTERREY, MEXICO (By Isaac Silvestre, Editores Latin Petroleum, 29.Sep.2026, Words: 184) — The future of Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) is up for auction.

The hearing for the sale of AHMSA and its subsidiary Minera del Norte began on 25 Sep. 2026, at the Federal Judiciary, with 6 interested bidders, El Financiero reported on 29 Sep. 2026.

Juan Lucio Torres, leader of a labor defense group, said all 6 interested parties attended the hearing. However, also noted that, at the start of the process, none had provided the required bid bond of $56.36mn.

The presence of bidders does not yet mean that the company has been sold. The workers remain attentive to the outcome of the auction.

For AHSMA workers, the outcome is especially important: they have gone almost 4 years without receiving wages and hope a sale will allow them to move forward with the payment of their debts and the reactivation of the steel plant located in Monclova, Coahuila, according to the daily.
