HOUSTON, TEXAS (BY Ofelia Paredes, Editores LatinPetroleum, 16.Sep.2026, Words: 124) — US-based Heeney Capital obtained the rights to operate and export gold for 30 years from the Chocó mine in Venezuela.
The initial investment is expected to be up to $1bn.
Heeney Capital signed the agreement with the Venezuelan government and the Venezuelan Mining Corporation (CVM), and will develop the project in conjunction with the commodities trading company Mercuria Energy, EFE reported on 16 Sep. 2026.
The agreement was signed in Houston on the sidelines of the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting.
The details were revealed by the Venezuelan Embassy in the US.
