USMCA delay to have direct impact on Mexican investment climate

HOUSTON, TEXAS  (By Pietro D. Pitts, Energy Analytics Institute, 28.May.2026, Words: 160) — The delay in reviewing the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will have a direct impact on Mexican investment, according to El Financiero, which cited warnings from a specialist. 

“As the USMCA review is delayed, we will also see a delay in investment, and we will likely see growth rates below Mexico’s potential,” said Citi Mexico chief economist Julio Ruiz said on 28 May 2026 during the virtual forum “Is the Treaty in Danger? Mexico’s Future in the Face of the USMCA Renegotiation,” hosted by El Financiero.
