Mexico eyes bidding process for 2 solar thermal power plants in Baja California Sur

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 26.Aug.2025, Words: 725) — The bidding process for the construction of 2 solar thermal power plants in Baja California Sur, with an investment of $800mn, will begin no later than early-2026, according to Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Sheinbaum said the federal government is working on determining construction sites to acquire land in the desert region of Baja California Sur in order to begin agreements with landowners, as most of the land is socially owned.
