MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Editors at Energy Analytics Institute, 8.Jul.2025, Words: 434) — Earlier this year, Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo signed a decree related to 8 secondary laws on energy matters with an aim on recovering state-owned Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE by its Spanish acronym) as public companies of the state.
This, after Mexico’s Congress passed legislation in Nov. 2024 to eliminate 7 autonomous institutions and energy regulatory agencies which had until then operated independently from other branches of government.
