The 180,000 b/d FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão begins operations in the Mero field

SALVADOR, BRAZIL (Pedro Silva, Energy Analytics Institute, 24.May.2025, Words: 362) — Petrobras said the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Alexandre de Gusmão began production in the Mero field (Libra block), in the pre-salt Santos Basin. And, impressively, more than 2 months ahead of schedule.

Operations in the Mero field are conducted by the Libra Production Sharing Contract (PSC) consortium operated by Petrobras (38.6% WI), in partnership with Shell Brasil (19.3% WI), TotalEnergies (19.3% WI), CNOOC (9.65% WI), CNPC (9.65% WI) and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA), which in addition to managing the contract, acts as the federal government’s representative in the non-contracted area (3.5% WI), Petrobras announced on 24 May 2025 in an official statement.
