MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 15.May.2025, Words: 322) — The Mexicali Oriente Internal Combustion Plant (CCI), located in the state of Baja California, entered commercial operations in the wholesale electricity market on 12 May 2025.
The CCI has 24 generation units that provide a total capacity of 429 megawatts (MW). Its commissioning will avoid the emission of 3.23 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) said on 15 May 2025 in an official statement.
