Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy says new decree to reduce energy costs

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 28.Apr.2025) — Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) said a decree that seeks to limit the cost of energy in Colombia is ready. The decree aims to reduce the economic burden of households of all strata across Colombia.

The decree will allow Colombian households to access more stable and competitive service costs, even in periods of drought, thanks to long-term energy contracting businesses.
