MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 27.Apr.2025) — Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo asserted that Mexico is “nobody’s piñata,” and therefore, ahead of the upcoming US elections, she suggested US campaigns should focus on talking about the US and not Mexico.
“It must be said that in our relationship with the United States: Mexico is no one’s piñata! Because next year there will be elections for many state governments in the United States, so they should focus on talking about their country, which has plenty of problems,” Sheinbaum said on 27 Apr. 2025 during a speech from Campeche.
