Arbitral Tribunal Temporarily Suspends PDVSA-Petropar Case

(Energy Analytics Institute, Ian Silverman, 26.Mar.2019) — Under the framework of an international arbitration initiated by PDVSA against Paraguay’s Petropar, and processed under the arbitration rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Arbitral Tribunal granted a request for temporary suspension of the process.

In its rationale, the tribunal referred to issues raised by the parties and related to the participation of the Special Prosecutor from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Mr. José Ignacio Hernández, who was appointed by the Interim President of that country, Juan Guaidó, Petropar announced in an official statement on 26 Mar.
