HOUSTON, TEXAS (Ian Silverman, Energy Analytics Institute, 16.Jan.2025) — In a cost-cutting move, bp looks to cut 4,700 internal positions, which represent around 5% of its workforce, The Wall Street Journal reported.
bp also looks to cut 3,000 contractor positions, the WSJ reported 16 Jan. 2025.
According to the media outlet, bp had identified savings of around $500mn in Oct. 2024 that would be realized in 2025.
bp’s US onshore oil and gas business is under the command of bpx energy operates in the Permian and Eagle Ford basins in Texas as well as the Haynesville basin which stretches across Texas and Louisiana.
bp didn’t immediately reply to emails from Energy Analytics Institute (EAI) to confirm the details.
