MEEI Providing Unconditional Support Related to Rig 110 Accident and Incident Response

(Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 23.Dec.2024) — Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) remains fully engaged in assisting both Well Services and Heritage Petroleum Company Limited provide 24-hour support in the aftermath of the accident at Rig 110 and the incident response protocols.

MEEI permanent secretary Penelope Bradshaw-Niles visited the ‘Incident Command Centre’ located at the Trinmar Marine Base, Point Fortin and received an update on the rescue operations, the MEEI said in an official statement.

Regarding the incident at Rig 110 at 9:51am on 22 Dec. 2024, 74 of the 75 persons onboard the rig have been accounted for. Only Pete Phillip, remains unaccounted for, the MEEI said.

On-site at the Trinmar Base, Bradshaw-Niles also met with family members of Pete Phillip.

Incident response efforts remain ongoing and the MEEI team remains on the ground, the  MEEI said.

The MEEI has a team on the ground monitoring the response operations. Also on site are teams attached to OSHA, Well Services Limited and Heritage.
