(Energy Analytics Institute, 23.Oct.2024) — MODEC, Inc. successfully completed the hull block assembly for the Errea Wittu FPSO 40 days ahead of the original schedule.
The vessel to be designated for Guyana is under construction at the shipyard in China and is expected to start oil production in 2026, MODEC said 23 Oct. 2024 in a post on LinkedIn.
Errea Wittu means “abundance”, and will be the fifth offshore FPSO in Guyana in the prolific Stabroek block.
The Errea Wittu will combine the development of the Snoek, Mako and Uaru resources in Stabroek. It will be deployed 200 km offshore Guyana in a water depth of 1,690 m, according to details on MODEC’s website.

The Errea Wittu will use a SOFEC Spread Mooring System, and will be capable of storing around 2 MMbbls of crude oil.
ExxonMobil (45%) operates Stabroek with partners Hess Guyana Exploration LTD (30%) and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited (25%).
Offshore Frontier Solution Ptd. Ltd (OFS), a MODEC Group Company and a joint venture with Toyo Engineering Corporation, launched in Aug. 2022, is responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the FPSO based on MODEC’s M350TM new-build hull.
The Errea Wittu will have a topside designed to produce 250,000 b/d and will have associated gas treatment capacity of 540 MMcf/d, water injection capacity of 350,000 b/d and produced water capacity of 300,000 b/d.
The Errea Wittu will be MODEC’s first for use in Guyana and it will be the 18th FPSO/FSO project delivered by MODEC for use in South America, the company said on its website.
