Immediate Frontier

(Energy Analytics Institute, 26.Dec.2023) — Argentina’s president Javier Milei published a decree that prohibits the renewal of jobs of public workers hired in 2023.

The decision is part of adjustments by Milei intended to reduce state spending, Venezuela’s daily El Universal reported 26 Dec. 2023 citing data from Argentina’s La Nación newspaper.

Decree 84/2023, which was published in Argentina’s Official Gazette, establishes that the hiring of personnel for the provision of services carried out as of 1 Jan. 2023 will not be renewed. Additionally, thousands of contracts will also be reviewed, La Nación said.

The decision would imply the dismissal of 7,000 people, according to the Argentine daily.
