Ecopetrol Reports Strong 1Q:21 Financial Results [PDF Download]

Colombia state-controlled oil giant Ecopetrol announced strong first quarter 2021 financial results amid an ongoing Covid-19 pandemic that is impacting the country and company.

“Ecopetrol’s operating and financial results for the first quarter of the year reflect our ability to react to the Covid-19 crisis and overcome it in an effective manner. We have shown resilience and competitiveness in an environment where, despite the signs of recovery, there are still potential risks that require ongoing monitoring,” Ecopetrol CEO Felipe Bayón Pardo said on 5 May 2021 on the company’s 1Q:21 webcast with analysts to discuss the details.

“At the international level, we continue to make progress in the commercial feasibility studies and development plan of Gato do Mato discovery in the Brazilian pre-salt,” Bayón added.

Chilean Congressman Outraged By Roadblocks In Neuquén

Chilean deputy for the 28th district of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic region, Karim Bianchi Retamales, expressed discomfort in the situation facing truckers in Villa La Angostura (near the Cardenal Samoré pass) due to the blockade of Route 40 by self-convened Argentine healthcare workers.

“The integrity of the truckers in that country is in danger,” daily newspaper Río Negro reported on 5 May 2021, citing Bianchi, who added that a search for a definitive solution to the Argentine conflict was necessary.
