Halliburton Venezuela has been forced to lay off an unknown number of employees related to business restrictions owing to a license issued by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Details were revealed in a supposed letter from the company to its employees on 30 December 2020, as seen by Energy Analytics Institute.

Halliburton has yet to confirm the revelation.

Year-End Message From PDVSA President

Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) President Asdrúbal Chávez gave thanks in his year-end speech on 31 December 2020 to the country’s military and secret intelligent units for their joint assistance protecting the company’s assets.

Chavez added that their assistance was important this year amid continued US oil and refined product trading sanctions and the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
