(Energy Analytics Institute, Piero Stewart, 3.Apr.2020) — Venezuela’s state-owned oil company Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA) activated a Special Fuel Supply Plan to counter a naval blockade by the US government, announced Venezuela’s Tareck El Aissami, president of the Presidential Commission “Alí Rodríguez Araque” for the Defense, Restructuring and Reorganization of the National Oil Industry.

The US naval blockage aims to prevent the supply of chemical assets, supplies and spare parts necessary for the production of fuel distributed across the country, the official said in an official PDVSA statement.

“The US naval blockade is a plan to aggravate the situation of the Venezuelan people who are waging an exemplary battle against the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19),” El Aissami said.
