EP PetroEcuador Suspends Operations At La Libertad

(Energy Analytics Institute, Piero Stewart, 3.Apr.2020) — State oil company EP PetroEcuador announced plans to suspend activities at the La Libertad refinery located in Santa Elena province for 14 days, effective Saturday 4 April 2020, to safeguard the health of its employees.

Approximately 63 technician and operative employees at the plant will go into self isolation after working in the presence of persons who displayed symptoms similar to those associated with Covid-19.

Another 75 employees at the plant are said to have chronic illnesses that are not transmittable, EP PetroEcuador announced 3 April 2020 in an official statement.

Other non-technical personnel will continue to work from home during the 14-day period.

The refinery will be staffed with the minimum-required personnel to realize transfers of certain stored products to guarantee supply, the company added.
