The head of the state oil giant noted that these supports are part of Pemex’s firm commitment to the state of Hidalgo and the 12 municipalities (as well as others) directly involved in the oil industry, and which are included in the General Plan to Combat the Theft of Fuels.

Romero Oropeza recalled that at the outset of the current administration, theft of fuels was one of the pressing problems for the incoming government, a problem President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, faced decisively. “Over the past year the average daily fuel theft was 56,000 barrels, the equivalent of what is consumed daily in Mexico City, and today the daily average is 5,000 barrels,” he stressed.

The governor stated that the Tula region where the Pemex facilities are located is a priority for the state government, which will allocate over 100 million pesos to support more than 150 small and medium-sized companies, amounting to 18 billion pesos in new investment in the region, representing 50% of the state’s GDP and 20% of formal jobs in the state. In this administration, the Tula region has added more than 11,000 new jobs and 900 million pesos in exports.

Fayad Meneses highlighted the Pemex’s stated commitment and joint coordination with the government of the state of Hidalgo, stating: “The big challenge is to adopt responsible and sustainable behavior, because that is the right way to ensure more opportunities. The donation of resources reinforces the coordinated work across the three levels of government.”

The donations delivered included 16 twin-cab pick-up partol vehicles (12 four-cylinder and 4 six-cylinder) and one emergency medical ambulance for pre-hospital care.
