(Energy Analytics Institute, Aaron Simonsky, 8.May.2019) — The governments of Argentina and Uruguay announced plans to invest $1,000 million in the modernization of the Salto Grande Dam situated over the Uruguay River.
The full scope of the project includes renovation of electro-magnetic equipment and infrastructure over a 30 year period, online media La Red 21 reported on 8 May 2019.
In the first phase of project slated for 2019-2023, the countries will invest $80 million (50% investment by each country) with financing to come from the Inter-Development Bank.
