Mexico registers 1.4% GDP growth in 2Q:26, Sheinbaum says

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Editores Latin Petroleum, 21.Sep.2026, Words: 266) — Mexico registered 1.4% growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter 2026, positioning itself as the second most economically dynamic country among the G20 economies.

This, according to the quarterly report published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

“Second place in economic growth in the second quarter of 2026, and we will do even better in the third and fourth quarters, for all those who say things are going very badly,” Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted on 21 Sep. 2026 during her morning presser.

In the G20 ranking, Mexico was second only to India, which topped the list with 1.8% growth, and surpassed countries such as Indonesia (1.3%), Turkey (1.1%), China (0.9%), and Canada (0.8%).
