Bolivia’s Arce Emerges As Presidential Winner

(Energy Analytics Institute, 19.Oct.2020) — Bolivian presidential hopeful Luis Arce appears to have won the country’s general election.

“We still don’t have an official count, but from the data we have, Mr. Arce and Mr. Choquehuanca have won the election,” Bolivia’s interim president Jeanine Añez Chavez announced 19 October 2020 in a social media post. “I congratulate the winners and ask them to govern thinking of Bolivia and democracy.”

Arce served as Bolivia’s economic minister between 2006-2017 under the then president Evo Morales.

Land-locked Bolivia is a significant natural gas producer and exporter primarily to neighboring Brazil and Argentina.
