BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA (By Steve Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 23.Sep.2026, Words: 172) — Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez held a bilateral meeting with the prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, taking place in New York.
Diplomatic relations between the 2 Caribbean countries began on 14 Sep. 1952.
During the meeting on 23 Sep. 2026, both leaders discussed the possibility of establishing a new bilateral cooperation agenda in areas of common interest, including trade, energy, agriculture, environmental protection, culture, and security.
The meeting reaffirms both countries’ commitment to maintaining dialogue and exploring cooperation initiatives for the benefit of their people, Venezuela’s presidency said on 23 Sep. 2026 in an official statement.
Both leaders agreed to make official visits to Caracas and Port of Spain, with the aim of maintaining a direct consultation mechanism at the highest level.
