“I want to propose a concrete action that I proposed at the G20, a simple proposal, one that stems from a new vision for the United Nations: allocating 10% of global arms spending, which amounts to billions of dollars, to a global program that allows millions of people to reforest millions of hectares each year. Instead of sowing war, let us sow peace, let us sow life. I also want to propose a declaration against military intervention in Cuba; may dialogue and peace prevail,” the government of Mexico reported on 18 Apr. 2026, citing comments from Sheinbaum during the event.
