MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 7.Sep.2025, Words: 147) — A fire inside a Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) substation has left hundreds of users in the La Alianza neighborhood of Monterrey without power.
The fire broke out on the afternoon of Sunday 7 Sep. 2025, according to a story by the Mexican daily Telediario.

Other highlights from the story include:
— the substation is located at the intersection of Camino del Pastizal and Marte Street in the Estrella neighborhood, in the northwest of the city,
— the incident was allegedly caused by lightning, following the rains and thunderstorms reported in the Monterrey metropolitan area,
— currently, personnel from Civil Protection Monterrey, and the Nuevo León Fire Department are working to extinguish the fire.
