Surge surpasses 7 billion gallons of freshwater conserved in Permian completion operations

HOUSTON, TEXAS (By Editors at Energy Analytics Institute, 28.Aug.2025, Words: 74) — In Jul. 2025, Surge Energy US Holdings Company surpassed 7 billion gallons of freshwater conserved by utilizing recycled water in completion operations in the Permian basin since 2017. 

Surge has invested significantly in water handling infrastructure which consists of 4 recycle facilities built, approximately 217 miles of water pipelines, and company owned disposal wells.

“This investment in water infrastructure is a key reason our lease operating expense unit costs have been below five dollars per barrel of oil equivalent for six consecutive years,” stated Surge senior vice president of development and operations Chris Alonzo. “Surge’s cost structure is top-tier in the Permian Basin.”
