PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 13.May.2025, Word: 491) — Ecuador’s head over the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) Inés Manzano signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director general Rafael Mariano Grossi with the aim of providing strategic cooperation for Ecuador, in key areas such as energy generation, technical training, strengthening of infrastructures and the safe use of radioactive sources.
“Nuclear energy is a type of stable, good and lifelong energy, which will be added to the other firm energies that we have and must maintain, such as thermal, and those we want to build such as geothermal. Today we trace the path to nuclear energy, from the middle of the world to all of Ecuador,” Manzano said on 13 May 2025 in an official agency statement.
