Petrobras reports average production of 2.77 MMboe/d in 1Q:25, up 5.4% sequentially

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA (Steve Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 29.Apr.2025, Words: 426) — Brazil’s state-owned Petrobras reported average production of crude oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas of 2.771 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe/d) in the first-quarter 2025 (1Q:25), up 5.4% compared to 2.628 MMboe/d in the 4Q:24. However, production in the 1Q:25 was down slightly compared to 2.776 MMboe/d in the 1Q:24.

Importantly, the sequential production increase was mainly due to the lower volume of losses from maintenance shutdowns; improved operational efficiency in the Santos Basin; the production start-up of floating production, storage and offloading or FPSO Almirante Tamandaré vessel in the Búzios field; and the ramp-up of the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias in the Mero field, factors partially offset by the natural decline in production. Additionally, 11 new producing wells started operations: 6 in Campos Basin and 5 in Santos Basin.
