HOUSTON, TEXAS (Editors at Energy Analytics Institute, 2.Apr.2025) — US president Donald Trump imposed new tariffs on all imported goods, while also revealing a detailed list of reciprocal tariffs that target 183 countries.
“This is one of the most important days… in American history; it’s our declaration of economic independence. For years, hardworking American citizens were forced to sit on the sidelines… But now it’s our time to prosper,” The White House revealed on 2 Apr. 2025 in a post on X, citing a comment from Trump during a ceremony celebrating the new tariffs.
Mexico and Canada, which are part of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), escaped the new tariffs.
