(Aaron Simonsky, Energy Analytics Institute, 16.Dec.2024) — Petrobras said that the chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, Pietro Adamo Sampaio Mendes, was appointed by Brazil’s presidency to occupy a Board of Directors of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
Under the terms of article 5 of Law 9.986/2000, which deals with Regulatory Agencies, the nomination will still be submitted for approval by the Federal Senate and subsequent appointment by Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Petrobras announced 16 Dec. 2024 in an official statement.
Mendes will continue in his role as chairman of Petrobras’ Board of Directors during this process, the company said.
