Sheinbaum Looks to Reduce Costs at Pemex

(Energy Analytics Institute, 30.Oct.2024) — Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo said the main plan for state-owned Pemex was to make the company more efficient internally.

Sheinbaum told the media that Pemex had three subsidiaries and 40 affiliates, which made it complex to administer the company.

“We are going to take the opportunity to reduce costs,” Sheinbaum said 30 Oct. 2024 during her daily presser, adding the reductions wouldn’t impact the labor rights of Pemex workers.

“We’re going to implement an important austerity program,” Sheinbaum added, without providing details.
