(Energy Analytics Institute, 24.Nov.2023) — Vente Venezuela national coordinator and opposition leader María Corina Machado said the next president of the Opec country would be picked by its citizens, according to the daily newspaper El Nacional.
“The disqualification doesn’t stop anyone,” the newspaper reported 24 Nov. 2023, citing comments made by Machado during a visit to La Isabelica in Valencia in Venezuela’s Carabobo state.
In regardings to who would choose the next president in late 2024, Machado said it would be the people of Venezuela.
“This is called a citizen force and every day we are taking one step closer to having a free country,” Machado said. She insisted that this was an “irreversible” process.
“We are going to get rid of socialism forever in Venezuela because we believe in a liberal Venezuela, with solid institutions and opportunities for all our children,” Machado said.
