The 4.2MW Yilan Qingshui Geothermal Power Plant jointly developed by Jieyuan Energy Development and Taiwan Steam Electric has obtained the first domestic geothermal power plant electricity license in 30 years on November 23, 2021, and can supply 10,000 small households in Taiwan every day Use, and not affected by the weather.

Lin Songlie, chairman of Jieyuan, said

“green power is very important to Taiwan’s future, and it is also responsible for the construction of green power infrastructure. This is also a movement for all people that should support it together. There is no shortage of failure cases in Taiwan’s geothermal heat. We know that only by continuing to promote the conversion of commercial geothermal power plants one by one, can we lead the industry and the government to provide a sufficiently stable green power foundation.”

In the future, Fengyu Green Energy will conduct drilling and power plant construction, ORMAT will provide generator sets and technology, and then JY Energy will develop and manage power plants. Jieyuan Energy Development is expected to complete a 4-5MW geothermal power plant by the end of 2023 and 2024, and an 8-10MW geothermal power plant by the end of 2025. The total installed capacity of the geothermal power plant built by Jieyuan Energy will exceed 20MW by the end of 2025.

At present, Jieyuan Energy Development is actively expanding the geothermal power generation demonstration area in Liouziping, New Taipei City. It is expected to be completed in 2025, and the device capacity can reach more than 4MW.
