Suriname

— “We need to act now. We need to support the private sector in transforming their goals into investment plans and most importantly bankable projects,” Jade Tjon, Representative of Suriname at the Board of Executive Directors for the Inter-American Development Bank wrote 2 Jul. 2022 in a post on LinkedIn. “Simultaneously we need to support governments with enhanced technical assistance to enable an environment for private sector investment.”

Colombia

— Colombia’s president-elect Gustavo Petro has named Susana Muhamad, an environmental activist, to head the country’s new Environmental Ministry, she announced 2 Jul. 2022 on Twitter. In another post she said the gov’t would look to “close the door to fracking and [that] there will be no more glyphosate,” but added that the energy transition needed to be accelerated.
