(Energy Analytics Institute, 14.Apr.2022) — Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso ordered the modification of the name of Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MERNNR) to that of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
The name change went into effect with the issuance of Executive Decree 400 dated 14 April 2022 the new ministry announced in an official statement.
The head of the newly named Ministry of Energy and Mines Juan Carlos Bermeo Calderón emphasized that the name change didn’t “in any way mean a division in the institution… to the contrary it strengthens the ministerial management according to the guidelines of the government,” he said in the statement.
