Trinidad Minister Meets With BHP Executives

(MEEI, 9.Dec.2021) — Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P., met with Senior BHP Executives Michael Stone, Country Manager to BHP Trinidad and Tobago, Graham Salmond, General Manager BHP Petroleum North America and the Caribbean, Selby Bush, Head of Corporate Affairs, BHP Petroleum and Rohan Goudge, Head of Appraisal BHP at the World Petroleum Conference in Houston Texas on 7 December 2021.

BHP executives provided a high level update on the ongoing merger/ acquisition with Woodside and advised that it was progressing as planned.

Engaging discussions were held with respect to the progress of BHP’s deep-water Calypso project, where updates were given on the ongoing appraisal programs of the Bongos 3 and Bongos 4 Wells.

BHP also provided details on their joint venture arrangement with Shell and their efforts to address and minimise costs, as they work towards commercialising Le Clerc and Victoria.

Additionally the company provided an update on current gas production, which over the past month has increased from 360 to 400 mmscf/d, supported by production from Ruby as well as facility optimization work. During the discussions, BHP as part of their continued commitment to finding more hydrocarbons, indicated that they had completed their seismic program in the Barbados Blocks and were studying the results of same.
