(Energy Analytics Institute, 19.Dec.2020) — Drilling of the Yarará X-1 (YRA-X1) exploratory well, which commenced on 14 September 2020, reached a final depth of 2,850m and encountered the presence of hydrocarbons.

“The immediate plan is to develop wells in the area,” Bolivia’s Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy announced 19 December in an official statement, citing Minister Franklin Molina Ortiz.

The Yarará-X1 exploratory project is being developed by Bolivia’s state oil and gas company Yacimientos Petrolifos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) and with its own drilling equipment.

The well is now in the completion phase, which will allow it to be put into production with an initial estimated flow of between 300-400 barrels per day. The initial investment plan considers drilling two additional exploratory wells, the ministry said.
