(Energy Analytics Institute, 9.Nov.2020) — Argentina’s YPF plans to drill 24 wells in the Rincón del Mangrullo Block at two unconventional developments between now and 2021.

The developments on the block include tight gas in the Mulichinco formation and shale gas in the Vaca Muerta formation, YPF announced 9 November 2020 in an official statement.

There’s been no drilling activity in the area since February of 2019, but thanks to the new gas stimulus production plan, YPF aims to double its current production to around 5 million cubic meters per day by the coming winter.

The Rincón del Mangrullo development alone will generate approximately 600 jobs linked to activities such as well construction, drilling, fracturing and bringing wells into production.
