Venezuela Oil Spill Reaches Morrocoy Beaches

(Energy Analytics Institute, 11.Aug.2020) — An oil spill said to have occurred at El Palito refinery, owned and operated by Venezuela’s state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), has reportedly reached the once pristine beaches of Morrocoy.

PDVSA has yet to release a statement regarding the incident.

PDVSA operates six refineries in Venezuela with a combined processing capacity of 1.3 million barrels per day, although the units are processing next to zero after years without maintenance and now a lack of repair parts and petroleum inputs.
