EAI brief: Mexico sets FDI record during 3Q:25, Sheinbaum says

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 19.Nov.2025, Words: 137) — Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that Mexico reported an increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the third quarter 2025 (32:25), which she said was “good news for the country.”

“Mexico breaks records in foreign direct investment,” she added on 19 Nov. 2025 during her daily briefing with the media.

Highlights include:

— FDI in Mexico reached almost $41bn in the 3Q:25, representing a 15% increase compared to 2024: Sheinbaum

— the greatest growth in FDI is seen in new investments, increasing from $2bn to $6.5bn, benefiting the energy, data center, infrastructure, and financial sectors: Sheinbaum, and 

— FDI registered a 69% increase from 2018 to 2025, according to data from Banxico and the Ministry of Economy: Sheinbaum
