The initiative is part of Ecopetrol’s efforts to promote the energy transition and take advantage of renewable energy sources in Colombia.
The geothermal study project in Azufral aims to understand the generation potential, estimated at approximately 80 MW of clean energy generation capacity, using the natural heat of the earth, Ecopetrol announced on 11 Jul. 2025 in an official statement.
