CARACAS, VENEZUELA (By Piero Stewart, Editores Latin Petroleum, 21.Oct.2026, Words: 287) — The Federation of Energy Workers of Venezuela (FetraEnergía) denounced what it labeled a “blatant aggression by North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP) against the working class” south of Lake Maracaibo.
Under an illegal “day-to-day” scheme, NABEP is carrying out labor fraud that violates the Organic Labor Law [LOTTT by its Spanish acronym] and the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Oil Industry,” FetraEnergía announced on 21 Oct. 2026 in an official statement.
The violation was effected by NABEP by it “deliberately evading payment for rest days, night shift bonuses, travel time, vacations, profit sharing, and social benefits,” FetraEnergía said. “This neocolonial practice destroys the historical gains of the industry and condemns oil workers’ families to poverty wages.”
NABEP, a privately held oil company that is the second-largest private Venezuelan oil producer, was recently granted 100-year concessions for 17 oil fields with proven reserves of approximately 65 billion barrels.
“We formally warn the Ministry of Labor and investors that the employer’s intransigence and refusal to recognize this legitimate federation are keeping the rolling strikes going,” FetraEnergía said. “The discontent among the rank and file poses an imminent risk to the production of 100,000 barrels of oil per day in the region.”

“We demand immediate wage indexation, strict compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, and an end to employer violations. Energy sovereignty cannot be sustained through the exploitation of its workers,” FetraEnergía added. “Until every last right taken from us is restored, the strike continues!”
