MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 7.Jul.2026, Words: 166) — Lawyers for Alonso Ancira rejected statements made by Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo who brought up and accused the former owner of Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) of being responsible for some outstanding debt related to state-owned Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX).
In a statement, Ancira’s lawyers called Sheinbaum’s assertion a “fallacy” and explained that the debt with PEMEX “was not a personal matter, but rather an Altos Hornos debt,” El Financiero reported on 7 Jul. 2026.
