CARACAS, VENEZUELA (By Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 26.Jun.2026, Words: 165) — Workers with Venezuela’s National Electric Corporation (CORPOELEC) are carrying out technical maneuvers and operations to restore the electricity supply in the areas affected by the recent seismic activity.
This, in the aftermath of 2 massive earthquakes on 24 Jun. 2026. The earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 shook the OPEC country, causing the collapse of infrastructure and buildings in several Venezuelan states.
Technicians from the state-owned electric company are deployed in the affected states and areas “repairing substations, distribution circuits, and power plants,” Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez said on 26 Jun. 2026 during a phone call with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
Electric service has been gradually returning to normal in much of Venezuela, although work continues to restore electricity to the states of La Guaira and Carabobo, 2 of the regions hardest hit by the natural disaster, she noted.
